Crawlspace water damage can affect insulation, floor joists, subflooring, vapor barriers, and other materials. Standing water can also leave behind excess humidity and musty odors if the space is not properly dried.
What the Job Involves
The inspection starts by finding where the water came from and checking how far moisture has spread. Standing water may be extracted, while wet insulation, vapor barriers, wood, and other materials are checked for saturation.
Signs You Need It
- Standing water in the crawlspace
- Damp or damaged insulation
- Musty odors
- Wet floor joists or subflooring
- High humidity
- Water stains or pooling
How the Work Goes
The water source is addressed first. Standing water is removed when necessary, followed by moisture testing of the crawlspace and surrounding materials. Air movers and dehumidifiers are then used to dry the affected area. Materials that cannot be properly dried may need removal.
What Affects the Cost
Cost depends on crawlspace size, water depth, accessibility, affected materials, moisture levels, and how long the water has been present. Damaged insulation or structural materials can also increase the work required.
